Become a versatile and successful professional in the show and event management industry with our 12-month program. Not only will you be able to coordinate festivals, conferences, trade shows, corporate events, concerts, weddings and parties, you’ll have the opportunity to develop practical skills through an internship. This will also enable you to expand your network and build relevant knowledge to enable you to take the first step into the events industry.

Skills and Competencies
Throughout your studies, you’ll develop the capabilities to:

  • Plan, manage and coordinate all of the logistics for an event
  • Plan and execute the marketing and promotion of an event
  • Hire, train and supervise support staff
  • Ensure compliance with various laws and regulations
  • Negotiate service agreements
  • Organize the production and logistics of concerts for musicians
  • Modify and adapt décor elements and design of venues to suit the theme of an event
  • Develop professional network within the event industry
  • Effectively navigate the event industry
  • Understand and implement career development activities

Under the provisions of section 4 of the College Education Regulations concerning the conditions of admission, a person who has received instruction considered sufficient by the college and meets any of the following conditions may be admitted to a program of studies leading to an Attestation of College Studies:

  • The person has interrupted his or her full-time studies or pursued full-time postsecondary studies for at least 2 consecutive terms or 1 school year;
  • The person is covered by an agreement entered into between the college and an employer or by a government program of studies;
  • The person has interrupted his or her full-time studies for one term and pursued full-time postsecondary studies for one term; or
  • The person holds a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS/DEP).

Documents required for your admission:
All applications for admission must be accompanied by the following documents:

  • Completed application form
  • Non-refundable application fee of $50.00 and Admission fee of $200.00 ($250.00)
  • Birth certificate (certified copy)
  • Most recent academic transcript or diploma:
  • Issued by MES (Ministère de l'Enseignement supérieur), if a student in Quebec
  • Issued by the province or territory, if a student outside Quebec
  • Issued by the institution or state, if an international student
  • Any official documents issued outside Quebec must be a certified copy or the original.

Documents written in language other than English or French must be accompanied by an official translation.

Term 1: Throughout your first term, you’ll be introduced to the fundamentals of the event planning process and industry; how to produce and promote a concert (e.g. equipment, contracts with artists, venue selection, licenses and permits, etc.); basic accounting principles to run an event; planning business or work as a freelancer event planner; as well as publicity and public relations for events.

Term 2: As you move into your second term you’ll become familiar with the fundamentals of starting and running a successful event planning business, marketing and promoting an event; effective event coordination (i.e. managing an event of the “day of”); as well as how to select, assess, negotiate, decorate and manage the ideal venue for an event.

Term 3: During this term, students will learn all of the important legal aspects related to planning an event (e.g. licenses, permits, insurance, laws and regulations, etc.); as well as how to effectively manage the hiring, training and supervision of employees and volunteers when planning an event.
You will also be required to complete an internship. You’ll be provided with guidance on how to find one, how to behave in a professional manner, as well as how to maximize the benefits of the experience.
