Speaking, hearing, and understanding are basic functions that enable people to connect with the world around them. Difficulty in one or more of these areas can interfere with an individual’s ability to communicate and negatively impact a person’s quality of life.
As an undergraduate or graduate student in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, you will study human communication problems within a culturally and linguistically diverse society and learn creative strategies and technologies to diagnose and treat children and adults with communication problems.

Ranked No. 1 speech-language graduate program nationwide by GraduatePrograms.com, the Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) emphasizes small classes, close interaction with faculty, and comprehensive preparation for successful career within this in-demand field. Upon graduation you will be eligible for certification by ASHA for the CCC-SLP, and eligibility for licensure in SLP by the New York State Department of Education's Office of the Professions.

At the state-of-the-art Downtown Brooklyn Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic (located on campus), you will gain hands-on experience providing evaluation and treatment for people of all ages with speech-language and/or hearing difficulties.
