To succeed in the high-demand industries of supply chain management or logistics, a thorough academic grounding is necessary.
  • This postgraduate short course* goes into detail on each stage in the supply chain journey, from procurement to delivery, with a particular focus on the increasingly important procurement and sustainability aspects of the sector.

The course has been designed as a whole to ensure a seamless transition between modules, through which you will explore topics such as:

  • The role of finance, including corporate finance, economics and management accounting
  • How the sustainability agenda has driven profound changes in the management of supply chains
  • The management decisions, marketing channels and relationships between trading concerns and transport channels
  • Upon completion of the course, you will have the opportunity to progress to our full Masters degree.

  • We know that many people from non-traditional backgrounds would succeed on our courses! That’s why we offer two different entry routes, taking into account your prior work experience and relevant qualifications. You will also need to meet our English language requirements.
  • Additionally, you will need to pass your first assignment set within your two-week induction period of the course in order to continue with your studies.

Academic entry route
In order to satisfy the academic entry route requirements for our PG Dip Supply Chain Management and Global Logistics, you must have the following qualifications as a minimum:

  • An undergraduate degree from an approved institution, equivalent to a UK Honours degree, or a relevant professional qualification

Work experience entry route
In order to satisfy the work experience entry route requirements for our PG Dip Supply Chain Management and Global Logistics, you must meet the following criteria:

  • At least three years’ relevant work experience within supply chain or logistics

English language requirements

  • As our courses are delivered in English, a high proficiency with English is required. If English is not your first language, your English ability should be equivalent to an IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5. Don’t worry if you don’t hold an IELTS or equivalent qualification – we offer a free online English test to assess your proficiency.
  • You don’t need to prove your English ability if you are a national of, or have completed a qualification equivalent to a UK degree
  • The PG Dip Supply Chain Management and Global Logistics is made up of the following modules and, upon completion, is equal to a total of 120 credits at Level 7.

Level 7 modules:

  • Core Concepts in Logistics, Operations and Supply Chain Management (20 credits)*
  • Sustainable Supply Chain Management (20 credits)
  • Global Logistics and Transport Management (20 credits)
  • The Finance of Supply Chain Management (20 credits)
  • Supply Chain Analytics and Innovations (20 credits)
  • Global Procurement and Risk Management (20 credits)

* These modules are core and must be passed in order to achieve the award.

  • When paying for your undergraduate or postgraduate course up-front, we’ll offer you a discount of 10% for students starting their course in the 2020-21 academic year, and 5% for students starting their course in the 2021-22 academic year. 

Alumni discount 

  • If you are a previous graduate with the University of Essex or University of Essex Online, we’ll award you a 10% alumni discount on your postgraduate tuition fees when you continue your studies to Masters level. This is only applicable to students studying online and does not apply to students studying on campus. 
  • The Alumni discount cannot be used in combination with the International scholarship. 

Scholarships

  • International scholarship (all courses) International students residing in specific regions outside of the UK may be eligible for a partial scholarship for our undergraduate and postgraduate online courses.
